Our History
A family-owned business, started in 1976 in Portland, Oregon.
David A. Thompson founded TEC Equipment in 1976. During those early days in Portland, Oregon, TEC Equipment was known as Thompson Equipment Company and its business was buying and selling used trucks and trailers.
Since then, TEC Equipment's growth in the dealership industry is unprecedented. Our expansion from a single used truck center in Portland, Oregon to 30+ truck and trailer dealerships in over 20 cities across Washington, Oregon, Nevada, California, Arizona, Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota is a tribute to this. Our focused strategy has yielded over 40 years of market share growth and financial stability.
In addition to new and used truck and trailer sales, parts, and service, our dealerships provide leasing and rentals, financing, insurance, and auto transport equipment sales and service. More than 1,300 employees in 8 states help TEC Equipment serve the needs of our customers big and small.
Business Partnerships
TEC Equipment, Inc. is proud to represent Volvo and Mack trucks, and Wabash Trailers, as a franchise dealer in key markets across the Midwest and West. Additionally, TEC partners with MAC Trailer, BWS Manufacturing, Bollinger Motors, Cottrell, Sun Country, Kentucky Trailers and Jerr-Dan as official franchise locations. Our collective partners are all committed to supporting TEC’s growth. Over the years we have formed a strong “Best Business Partner” relationship which has benefited each other and enabled TEC Equipment to provide first class customer service. Today, TEC Equipment, Inc. ranks among the top dealers in North America, thanks in part to our great partnerships.
